Dear The Father,

In a world full of distractions it’s so hard to love you.

Many cannot see you because you don’t allow them to. Many cannot hear you because their hearts don’t desire to. Yet you still exist. Yet we exist because of you and most refuse to give you that glory.

So many fear you in the wrong way that leads them away from you. They fear:

My business won’t prosper if I talk about Jesus, my album won’t be played or sell if I talk about Jesus, my friends won’t be friends with me because they view my relationship with you being a religious act and it makes them uncomfortable, my social media won’t grow and I won’t have followers because people feel I am pressuring them to convert or believe in something they don’t, etc. etc. etc.

In a world full of distractions it’s so hard to love you.

I battled with choosing you. I sought out the acceptance of others that at first I put you on the back burner in fear that the world wouldn’t love me. Yet they ended up leaving me anyways… in the middle of the street, filled with pain, sorrow, grief, stress, worry, doubt, self esteem issues, mental health issues, emotional baggage & damage, regret, every consequence of the sin you warned us about.

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.”

—1 John 2:15 NIV

A love poem to the Creator of the creatives.

On this day I cry to you

from the depths of my heart for forgiveness,

that I would ever consider anyone before you

in seek of love that’s endless.

A cluster of confusion awaits us

born to the world we go,

to desire from others what only you possess

in your word you left us bold.

You allow me to suffer completely

mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, sexually.

All that makes me human,

to die of my flesh.

Nevertheless in suffering I cast out amongst the sea

of energy that isn’t flesh,

to find what is not me.

My eyes have not seen. My tongue has not tasted. My skin has not felt. My nostril has not smelled. Your love that hides in perfect abundance around me.

This passionate love I have for you

was granted by your grace,

to feel your presence in all my days

I had to leave the common race.

If only loving you was this easy

then everyone would do it,

patience is a virtue

your love is achieved through it.

Your name is praised and glorified

as I boast in all that makes me weak,

given to me is your strength that’s the cause

of inevitable defeat.

This life, this world,

had me slave to what is commonly known as fear,

your covenant was revealed to me

like it was always here.

There’s so much more that I could say,

declare and express,

the love I have for you my Father

as I continue to fight distress.

To fulfill your will that shall be done

your purpose for my life’s existence,

to participate as steward to the world

as your faithful and cheerful servant I am witness.

I vow to become better for you

to no other shall I idol,

to praise the name of my Lord and Savior

as it is written in the Bible.

Here’s one of my favorite poems; “Touched By An Angel”…

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

The truth behind your poem is just too relatable. Thank you for leading me to this post. It’s a narrow path between societal norms and God’s truth but He takes our hands and as we die in flesh, He raises our Spirit.

Thank you for the encouragement Carldale.
